Robert Duvall plays a disaffected CIA agent sent to infiltrate an alien flying saucer that has crash landed. He finds that the genetic material used to alter his appearance has overridden his human nature, and he ultimately chooses to return to the home planet of the benevolent aliens and leave humanity and its violence behind.
