    Description

HITCHCOCK, Screenplay by John J. McLaughlin, based on the book ALFRED HITCHCOCK AND THE MAKING OF PSYCHO by Stephen Rebello, 2012 For Your Consideration Screenplay, Universal, 8.25 x 5.25-inch well-bound PB with semi-stiff covers, around 110 unnumbered pp., excellent condition, looks unread.
The screenplay includes the working title ALFRED HITCHCOCK AND THE MAKING OF PSYCHO, which was shortened for its release. It tracks an older Alfred Hitchcock (Anthony Hopkins) and his devoted wife Alma Reville (Helen Mirren) in 1959 as the Master Of Suspense tries to revitalize his career by making PSYCHO, a shocking rather than elegant thriller. Scarlett Johansson plays Janet Leigh and James D'Arcy tackles Anthony Perkins. It was the first slasher film but operated at a much more artistic level that most of those that followed. Although compelling with great performances, it's more for film buffs than a broad audience, and it took in only million in the U.S., part of its million worldwide gross.
It was nominated for only 1 Academy Award for Makeup and Hairstyling. The Golden Globes and BAFTA honored Helen Mirren with Outstanding Lead Actress nominations. The script is atypically enhanced by a great 4-page section of color film stills printed on thick, glossy stock.
